The Jazz Method for Clarinet opens newcomers to the rich and exciting repertoire of jazz in which the clarinet plays a significant role. It shows beginners of all ages the way from the first note to pieces by legends of jazz and leading jazz musicians of our time. With a step-by-step introduction and pieces written specifically for this school, the basic elements of solid clarinet technique - breath control, tone formation, embouchure, and fingerings - are explained along with the rhythmic subtleties of jazz music (e.g., syncopated rhythms and swing phrasing). The audio tracks (download by code) provide the musical background for all pieces, so that the clarinet student can enjoy an authentic jazz sound from the very beginning by playing with a first-class rhythm section of bass, guitar, and drums. Later, the playback tracks help with the first attempts at improvisation.
