Enamorado de la música - Partitura de John Miles
John Errington (* 23 de abril de 1949 en Jarrow, † 5 de diciembre de 2021 en Newcastle upon Tyne), más conocido como John Miles, ha dejado al mundo un regalo: Un himno, una declaración de amor a la propia música. El título de sólo ocho líneas »Music» hace famoso a John Miles en 1976 – y felices a los que saben engancharse a esta dinámica balada. Hábilmente producida con mano segura por Alan Parsons y orquestada por Andrew Powell, la canción de casi seis minutos refleja de forma concentrada las emociones que la música puede desencadenar en las personas: Alegría, drama, anhelo, tristeza, seguridad... No es de extrañar, por tanto, que »Music» se haya convertido en una de las piezas favoritas en las listas de canciones de diversas bandas y orquestas debido a su atemporalidad. En la Noche de los Proms alemana, la canción forma parte del programa estándar desde la fundación de la serie de conciertos en 1985.
¡No hay fiesta sin »Music«! Qué más sé de John Miles?
Aunque John Miles no pudo igualar el inmenso éxito de su hit (la propia canción y el álbum de Miles »Rebel« alcanzaron altas posiciones en las listas de éxitos de Europa), John Miles estuvo presente en el negocio de la música de muchas maneras a lo largo de su vida. ¿Conoces el misterioso álbum »Tales of Mystery and Imagination« (1976) de Alan Parsons Project ? John Miles prestó su voz a éste y otros álbumes de Alan Parsons.Con su propia formación Electric Band, John Miles publicó seis álbumes de estudio, 12 lanzamientos más y seis singles entre 1976 y 2009, incluida su conmovedora e inquietante declaración »The Right To Sing« (1983).
A lo largo de su carrera musical, John Miles, que también era guitarrista y teclista, trabajó tanto en el estudio como de gira con grandes como The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Page, Elton John e incluso la banda de pop alemana Pur. Escribió canciones para Joe Cocker y fue compañero de duetos de Tina Turner.
Por último, John Miles también redondeó su carrera como compositor de cuatro musicales. Su última pieza de teatro musical, Cuddy's Miles (2004), toma partido por la población rural británica de los años 30 amenazada por el desempleo.
