Clockwork Chimes by Dame Evelyn Glennie. Arranged for Marimba – 2, 3 or 4 mallets, in digital sheet music format. This piece explores playing mainly on the accidentals of the marimba with the aim of producing a bell-like sound along with the feeling of a tick-tock of a clock. The tempo is a guide only, but do keep it regular and even. Originally from the Faber Music publication Perpetual Motion, a collection of 10 evocative pieces written for young pianists to explore and enjoy, these pieces have been transcribed for marimba or vibraphone by Dame Evelyn Glennie with the intention of concentrating on musicality: 'Each piece was conceived to focus on a particular technical challenge thus helping to develop your mallet prowess, but I also see them as little sound stories. These ‘stories’ can be developed in any way you wish by allowing your imagination and curiosity to take you on a journey of discovery!'
