Ghost Waltz by Dame Evelyn Glennie. Arranged for Marimba, for 4 mallets, in digital sheet music format. There is a slightly menacing ‘sweetness’ to this piece. It remains soft throughout with a rather hazy, ghostly feel: each note should be reached for and placed without too much emotion or rubato. One can almost feel the emptiness through the rather cold playing of the notes. Originally from the Faber Music publication Perpetual Motion, a collection of 10 evocative pieces written for young pianists to explore and enjoy, these pieces have been transcribed for marimba or vibraphone by Dame Evelyn Glennie with the intention of concentrating on musicality: 'Each piece was conceived to focus on a particular technical challenge thus helping to develop your mallet prowess, but I also see them as little sound stories. These ‘stories’ can be developed in any way you wish by allowing your imagination and curiosity to take you on a journey of discovery!'
