The starting matter of the serie 'Audition' is to collect pieces from different inspiration which purpose is to link the pedagogical work of the teacher with young musician's pleasure while performing in concert, with end of year's test or more simply during the lessons completing the usual program. Although this piece requires little in the way of instruments, it provides much for the student who is eager to advance. Listening to the duet partner is the most important aspect, and when certain parts like the xylophone and marimba swap over, the pupil not only has a better understanding of the music played by the other partner, but also cannot fail to notice the effect of various instruments following each other in succession (such as the passages between xylophone, wood blocks and marimba). This duet will, we are convinced, encourage pupils to play together and develop a genuine liking for chamber music, which is fundamental to their progress. Jean Geoffroy
