This magnificent scoring of Carol of the Bells by Rich DeRosa (professor of composition/arranging at University of North Texas) was part of a long overture originally commissioned by the WDR Big Band, Germany. Bob Curnow's adaptation of Rich's score allows the traditional jazz ensemble to perform a 7-minute contemporary setting that will be a wonderful addition to any big band jazz Christmas concert. You will find this arrangement to be full of lush harmonies and solo space for alto saxophone and flugelhorn. There is also a shorter version available without the improvisation (SMP 1193). 5-5-4-4
