This is a wonderful medium up swing minor blues composition which employs a few interesting metric modulations ( i.e. tempo changes). The sax soli is very interesting, the solo changes are straight forward in nature ( i.e. 'C' minor blues), the shout chorus is exciting and in general, the tune is a very exciting set closer or set opener. Instrumentation: Standard big band ( i.e. 2 altos, 2 tenors, 1 bari, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, guitar (optional), piano, bass drums). Alto 1 may also be played on Soprano sax (part included). The top lead trumpet note is a written D. A fairly secure drummer would be a great asset to this tune. Although the tempo changes are non-standard in nature, these tempo changes are in fact fairly straight-forward to put together.
