Commissioned for UNI president Bob Koop's farewell celebration. Koobism is a straight ahead swinger in the hard bop style. The A section of the 32-bar theme is based on Coltrane's Resolution, and the bridge features major harmonies rising by major thirds, ala Giant Steps. Introductory and interlude material brings to mind Chick Corea's Three Quartets album. Lots of contrapuntal writing, as well as an interesting saxophone soli and a traditional ensemble tuttu at the end. Medium Difficult. Soloists - alto, piano, drums (could be opened up for any instrument). No doubles.
