The Stan Kenton Orchestra was always ahead of its time! This chart was recorded on the Stan Kenton Plays Chicago CD (available from Sierra Music). It was one of two originals on the album. Stan asked Bob to write something which could be performed differently every night. The fugue is an interesting tone row style jazz line which leads into a free-form section which is cued by the conductor in any manner so chosen. A great piece! 5-5-5-3
