The Big Dance was commissioned for Millard North High School Band, Omaha, Nebraska, Matt Sheppard, director. It's a bright swing blues with a half-time funk section interlude. Solos are for baritone sax and trumpet, and lead trumpet range is to written high C. There's plenty of swinging ensemble topped off with a modulation making this chart a gas to play. Excellent concert or festival material. (3:09)
