For those works that have not yet appeared in the critical New Johann Strauss Complete Edition, the piano reductions and librettos are published in a reprint series: Even if this can just suffice in its function as viewing material to convey a reasonably satisfactory impression of the content and gesture of the work, of the respective handling of the language and the weighting between music and dialogues, it nevertheless proves once again the necessity of a reliable scholarly critical edition with differentiation and presentation of all versions, as is being worked out step by step by Strauss Edition Wien for these works as well. Reliability: All textbooks published in the series of reprint editions as view copies do not claim to be complete, error-free or even scientifically reliable. Performance material: Performance material can also be offered for the stage works presented in the reprint series if there is sufficient demand and within a reasonable time frame.
