Zwischen seinen Arbeiten an den letzten Klaviersonaten fertigte Beethoven als Auftragsarbeit zahlreiche Volksliedbearbeitungen an, zumeist nach englischen Melodien (Ye Shepherds, Faithfu' Johnie, The Soldier, The Chase of the Wolf u. a.). Eine Auswahl erscheint hier in überarbeiteter Neuauflage. Die 15 Stücke teilen sich auf in Terzette, Duette sowie Sololieder für jede Stimmlage. Sie eignen sich zur Ergänzung des Programms für Liederabende oder als Zugabestücke. Die separate Vokalpartitur erleichtert den Sängern die Ausführung, da jeweils alle Strophen den Notenzeilen direkt unterlegt sind.
