Using three varying images from pursuits on the water, 'The Big Splash' has moments of excitement, soft melodies and crunching harmonies. Each section is given an opportunity to shine in this 3-part original work. Movement I entitled 'Launching' sets the scene of a speedboat accelerating into the water. 'Drifting' (mov. II) portrays images of the sunset over the water's edge and in the minor key there is a sense of thoughtfulness as well as tranquillity. The last movement has a grander feel to it. Titled 'Cruising' there are moments you can imagine a larger carrier chip setting sail as well as a sense of anticipation and excitement from those climbing aboard. Bon voyage!
