This piece for flute and ensemble is part of the continuation from my work on the links between painting and music, after Nicolas de Staël and Whistler. Indeed, this title is taken from a painting by Turner, an impressive snapshot of this struggle between the elements. The flute seemed to me to be particularly suitable for evoking the swirling energy that emanates from this painting. Conversely, this work also allows me to continue my research on a writing essentially based on the instrumental gesture, thus translating the idea of movement that I pursue through writing for strings first, now extended to others formations.
