Andre Previn

Vocalise

Vocalise' for soprano, cello, and piano is an enchanting masterpiece of timeless beauty and emotional depth. Written on 18 July 1995, the work was composed especially for world-class performers Sylvia McNair and Yo-Yo Ma. The very next morning at 6 AM, both exceptional artists recorded the piece together with the composer at the piano in the legendary Ozawa Hall in Tanglewood, USA.

In this distinctive instrumentation, the luminous, wordless line of the high soprano, the warm, soulful tone of the cello, and the delicate piano accompaniment merge into a moving dialogue full of lyricism and yearning. This high-quality sheet music edition from the renowned publisher Chester Music offers ambitious chamber music ensembles an incomparable repertoire highlight for concert and recital. A magical musical experience of pure elegance and intimacy!
