Walden Pond

Walden Pond (Nocturnes and Barcarolles) is a masterful and atmospheric choral work published by Boosey & Hawkes. Written to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the renowned Dale Warland Singers, the five-movement composition sets selected passages from Henry David Thoreau's celebrated transcendentalist classic to music. The extraordinary and delicate instrumentation for mixed choir (SATB), three cellos, and harp creates a meditative, nature-inspired sound world of rare poetic depth. The warm hues of the cellos blend harmoniously with the delicate resonance of the harp, guiding the vocal ensemble through shimmering soundscapes of quiet reflection and expansive brilliance. This set of parts contains the complete instrumental material for 3 cellos and harp—an inspiring highlight for any sophisticated concert programme.
