The poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke has always fascinated Cyrill Schürch. Rilke's lyrics are actually already music, they are a character that simply has to be carved out of the metaphorical stone. On the one hand, this choral composition is a reflection on nature and the transience of life, but on the other hand, it also represents how one can joyfully enjoy the beauty of life. At the ISCM Composition Competition 2021 for equal voices, the male choir version of the piece won first prize. In February 2023, it was successfully premiered with the Männerstimmen Basel under the direction of Eric Whitacre.
