Balogh's Tommy is composed for soprano solo and 16-part mixed choir in 2021. The piece is based on Rudyard Kipling's poem entitled the same. The narrator of the poem is a British soldier serving in India, who tries to portray his useful service, while he doesn't avoid mentioning his difficulties. The ballad form (verses and refrains) stays clear in the music and helps to demonstrate the soldiers' dual state of mind. The piece is dedicated to László Norbert Nemes, the choir master of the world premiere in 2021.
