Listeners know Mozart's two most famous violin concerts especially with the cadenzas by Joseph Joachim. It was him who established Mozart's concerts as standard works of th violinists' concert repertoire as late as the second half of the 19th century while giving them a very special romantic and virtuoso style on account of his cadenzas. In our time, where emphasis is given to coming as close as possible to the original part and how it was performed in former times, the violin player and pianist Kolja Lessing tries to approach Mozart by composing his own cadenzas - knowing quite well how difficult it is to find the balance between spontaneous improvisation and exactness of style.
