David Stone is a contemporary British composer and violinist, best known known for his works for student musicians andensembles such as his String Quartets. He was a master at Charterhouse at one time, a producer at the BBC and Music Director of the Godalming Operatic Society, then Director of the School of Music at the Royal ScottishAcademy of Music and Drama. He began to compose works for young musicians when he found a dearth of suitable teaching material for his own students.
