Delius' romantic third opera, Koanga produced, a number of interesting pieces infused with sensuality and notable for its nostalgic and folkish languor. Fenby's orchestral arrangement was a stripped down affair and it is this version that is most performed and recorded, and forms the basis of Palmer's arrangement.
