Anton Stadler's duos for clarinet are collected into a single volume for the first time and include hitherto unpublished music. Six Duettinos afford the opportunity for clarinettists to perform a range of short movements in different tempos and styles, with the distinction between first and second clarinet writing being consistently maintained. The six Duo Concertantes are more democratic in their treatmetnt of the two instruments, with equal distribution of solos and accompaniments. These duos offer a window into the instrumental idioms and musical language of Mozart's friend and clarinettist.
