This short, evocative piece was written for a clarinet quartet, which can optionally be accompanied by a vibraphone. It can be seen as a kind of song without words and aims above all to express the longing for the warmer seasons. The short days of winter carry a certain dreariness, but at the same time an incomparable calm. This interplay between serenity and longing is to be expressed again and again through the harmonies in the piece. The piece is written in the harmonic environment of D minor in many places, although there is not a single D minor chord in the entire piece. This harmonic openness remains unresolved until the end, leaving the listener with a feeling of uncertainty.
