I wrote this melodic work for my daughter Paulien. It sounds cheerful, expressive and gentle - a reflection of her character. The composition begins lyrically and dreamily. A gentle and soulful opening fragment leads to a large, uplifting passage. After that, the music in the B section undergoes a change of mood: melody and accompaniment sound light, cheerful and dance-like. This is followed by an elaboration that leads to a radiant climax in which the opening theme and various elements from the work recur, finally ending in the dreamy atmosphere of the beginning. - Bert Appermont
