This technique volume is aimed at advanced alto recorder players who are looking for material to work consistently on the fundamentals of their instrumental and musical skills. In keeping with the original literature for the instrument, the exercises are mainly for the alto recorder. Some technique chapters are to be practiced on both the alto and soprano flutes (in transposed fingering). The term 'technique' should not be misunderstood: The goal of the exercises is ultimately artistic expression, emotion, and tonal design.
