Biciniae (alternating songs) are typical contrapuntal movements dating from the 16th century. Though primarily intended for voice, they can also be performed by instruments. They are excellently suited for music lessons. Due to their linear line of composition, they offer possibilities to practise musical phrasing as well as the breathing and sound production required for it.
