The two-volume, English-language textbook The Saxophone Method is aimed at beginners with no previous musical knowledge as well as advanced saxophonists who want to refresh their knowledge or refine their technique. Beginning with the basics of posture, breathing technique, and embouchure, the school motivates students with a wide selection of pieces from a variety of musical styles from around the world. The professionally recorded mp3 accompaniment tracks are available as a free download and give the feeling of playing along with a great band right from the start. Two playbooks (Repertoire Books, ED 13921 + ED 13922) offer a diverse selection of playing literature - matched to the learning progress of the respective textbook. Volume 1 leads step by step through basics such as posture, fingering, embouchure and breathing technique: concise but informative texts are complemented by helpful drawings and photos. Even the first pieces can be accompanied by playback. Volume 1 develops the range e' to c'' including all semitones and thus sets a good foundation e.g. for playing in an orchestra or in a school band. Volume 2 gradually introduces the high register from d''' and completes the lower register up to b. Meaningful exercises and suitable pieces consolidate what has been learned.
