For many musicians playing in a big band is an ultimate high point. The special line-up of the big band guarantees amazing tuttis but equally allows the opportunity to perform quiet ballads. Playing in the wind section of a big band is an experience you will not forget in a hurry. Unfortunately, playing a solo - as the word suggests - is reserved for only a few. However, with this book, you can be the centre of attention, as you get the opportunity to play the leading part in these swinging pieces. On the enclosed CD you will hear fantastic solos which give you a good idea of the how it should be done. Of course you do not have to copy the solo, you can also improvise to the written chords. Almost all the pieces have been newly written in the style of the great big bands but you will also come across two famous hits: Barry Manilow's sultry Copacabana and Stevie Wonder's fabulous You Are the Sunshine of My Life.
