Descripción de la:
Norway became an independent nation in 1905, and the danish Prince Carl was offered the Norwegian crown after a plebiscite in November of that year. He accepted, took the old norse name Haakon, and ascended to the throne as King Haakon VII.
Oscar Borg was at that time the conductor of the military band in Halden, but was also know to be the finest composer of marches in Norway. He was asked to commemorate the historic event by composing a march. The result was this, one of the finest and most popular marches in the Norwegian repertoire.
