Salentin is Gauthier Dupertuis' tribute to Valais, the Swiss canton where he was born. Salentin is a mountain from which there is a spectacular view of Vernayaz, the composer's home village.
This piece has been designed in such a way that all the registers of the orchestra are in the spotlight for once. It is set in marching format, but can also be performed as a concert march.
Salentin is dedicated to the harmony of Martigny (Valais/Switzerland) and its conductor Dany Rossier. The march was premiered on the occasion of the concert of this wind orchestra on December 3, 2023.
