With his unique musical signature, Martin Scharnagl enriches the repertoire of numerous wind orchestras with original and innovative works. They range from polkas, waltzes and marches to educational compositions and arrangements to overtures and large concert works. However, during a concert weekend with the "Egerländer Blasmusik Frankenhardt", musical director and organiser Martin Dasing noticed that one thing was still missing from the Austrian composer's oeuvre: a fast polka. No sooner said than done: the idea for the piece AUF DIE SCHNELLE ("in a quick way") was born.
Witty and virtuosic. This is how the young Austrian's new work presents itself. It first appeared on the CD "Typisch untypisch" ("typically atypical"), released in 2022, of his ensemble "Viera Blech". AUF DIE SCHNELLE does full justice to the CD's title, because the polka is certainly not one thing: ordinary.
Whether the successful and busy composer and bandleader was actually in a hurry or on the go, or whether a creative flash of inspiration dictated the notes on paper, remains his secret. However, there is no doubt that he will thrill and fascinate musicians and audiences alike with his fast-paced new addition!
