The opening theme, symbolising a sunrise, is repeated throughout the work, giving the promise of hope for a new day.
The musical and conceptual idea for this work is taken from Revelation 22, 5:
'And there shall be no night there'.
The piece portrays the 'struggle' between light and darkness, and the mood alternates between chaos and peace before the work finally culminates with a triumphant and victorious ending:
'For the Lord God giveth them light, and they shall reign for ever and ever'.
