Descripción de la:
The composition consists mainly of little bits put together in different ways, creating melodies, scales and harmonies. The bits are, if you like, small fragments in musical motion or context, -hence the title.
The fragments derive from the letters L-M-K, the initials of Lungegaardens Musikk Korps, who commissioned the piece back in 2002. The letters are transformed into numbers and then again into notes by the help of a system.
There are two different versions of the L-M-K motif and you hear these in their purest form in the introduction. Contrasting the L-M-K fragments is a sonorous chorale-like sequence, quoting an earlier work by the composer. This is heard the first time in the brass and percussion (fig. 1).
The L-M-K 'theme' is continously developing throughout the piece, whilst the chorale links the different sections together and finally concludes the piece.
