The mountainous lands are traditionally associated with farming and, after a long week of work, with the deserved rest and pleasures of the Giorno di Festa (Feast Day). The thematic material of this composition comes from the melody of the popular song L'erba molesina. The two main parts of the work are bridged by an accelerando constructed on rhythmic-melodic elements present throughout the whole piece. In the introductory part (Andante Pastorale), the various sections of the band gradually introduce elements of the original theme, which is heard in its entirety only at the end in the brass section. Then comes a more upbeat part (Allegro), which describes the festive moment.
