Descripción de la:
In 1840 Felix Mendelssohn composed his 'Lobgesang' ('Hymn of Praise'), Op. 52. It's a 13-movement 'Symphony-Cantata on Words of the Holy Bible for Soloists, Choir and Orchestra'. Decades after Mendelssohn's death, the editors of Mendelssohn's complete edition entered 'Lobgesang' as 'No. 2' in the sequence of this symphonies for editorial reasons. However, there is no indication that this represented the composer's intentions.
The fifth movement of the 'symphony' is 'Ich harrete des Herrn' based on Psalm 40. It is scored for two sopranos, choir and orchestra. Italian arranger Dietmar Rainer transcribed this movement for two sopranos, choir and symphonic band.
