The song is inspired of- and has got it's name after the nature Reserve Koppangen located near Orsa, Sweden.
The song was originally an instrumental tune written for Orsa Spelmän. However, with lyrics by Py Bäckman, the song has been an even greater success through recordings and performances by artists like Helen Sjöholm, Sissel Kyrkjebo, Elisabeth Andreasson and Anne Sofie von Otter.
