Cesare Andrea Bixio composed Mamma, one of the most well-known Italian classic songs, for lyrics by Bruno Cherubini. The song owes its fame in part to the typical Italian melody, but even more to the innumerable interpretations of the most renowned tenors, including Beniamino Gigli, Claudio Villa, and Luciano Pavarotti. This arrangement of the song allows for various performance choices: voice and wind band (tenor); solo instrument and wind band (trombone/euphonium), or wind band without soloist.
