Norwegian Rustic Dance is the result of a desire to compose a lively piece in the tradition of Norwegian folk music. Halling, a Norwegian folkdance, is a robust, lively and stylish dance. One of the most prominent characteristics of this dance is found in the finale where the dancer(s) perform a 'Hallingkast', which is a step where the dancer(s) kick a hat which is suspended at the end of a tall pole.
