STANLEY RIVER OVERTURE is an energetic work named after the Stanley River Basin in the Brisbane are of Queensland, Australia where the composer lives. The tuneful grade 1 ¢ composition opens with the trumpets playing a march-like melody followed by a contrasting slow lyrical section and completed with the recurrence of the beginning melodic material. it also includes two snare drum parts, one correlated with page 29 of book 1, and one more advanced.
