This is the genre in which Pictures of Vienna for string orchestra were written, depicting various sights, events, or characters from Vienna’s golden age. By writing this work as if composed in that time, the composer has created an immediate link to the era. This work takes us through the Vienna of the imperial era, past the magnificent buildings of the Ringstrasse, from Schönbrunn to the Wiener Prater.
