The Serenade is self explanatory, the Romp just a joyful piece. It is a struggle between classical music and jazz. The clarinet starts quite seriously, but as the piece continues, he tends more and more towards jazz. However the strings (piano) to start with seem to follow him, but at the end go their own (classical) way.
