Written in the key of D major and entirely in first position, The Boogie-Man Blues can be used to introduce young string players to swing, 'walking' bass and the 12-bar blues form. There are a few slurs and a hint of chromaticism to allow for focus on finger placement and intonation. For those interested in improvising, there is an optional repeated section for solos, with two sample solos included. You'll have your orchestra swingin' in no time!
