'Cassazione op. 6' continues to be considered a Sibelius secret: both the hitherto unpublished version with large orchestra and the version with reduced instrumentation were premiered in 1904, but then rather removed themselves from the composer's field of vision. Cautious hints to revise the work were not put into practice by Sibelius, and so it is left to posterity and the text-critical work of the Complete Edition to evaluate 'Cassazione op. 6' comprehensively for the first time and to present it text-critically.
