Jan Müller-Wieland schrieb das Orchesterwerk 'Triptychon' für das Loh-Orchester Sondershausen / Max-Bruch-Philharmonie Thüringen im Auftrag der Thüringer Landesausstellung 2004 ('Land der Residenzen') anlässlich des Tages der Deutschen Einheit. Als allegorische Inspiration schwebte ihm dabei ein klangliches dreiteiliges Altarbild vor, das sich in der Satzfolge 'Largamente', 'Burlando, burrascoso' und 'Adagio vacillando' widerspiegelt. Wie Variationen beziehen sich die drei Stücke aufeinander. Ihr Grundmaterial besteht aus einer gospelartigen Floskel, die Müller-Wieland bereits in dem Klavierstück 'Engelsgeduld' aus seinem Zyklus 'Eidola' verwendet hat, sowie aus einer chromatisch absteigenden Linie (Passus duriusculus), die der Komponist in zahlreichen Werken Bachs wiederfindet. --------------------------------------------------------- Jan Müller-Wieland wrote the orchestral work 'Triptychon' for the Loh-Orchester Sondershausen / Max Bruch Philharmonic Thuringia in response to a commission from the 2004 Thuringian Provincial Exhibition ('Province of the Residences') on the occasion of the Day of German Unification. He had a sonic tripartite altar image in mind as allegorical inspiration, reflected in the movement sequence 'Largamente', 'Burlando, burrascoso' and 'Adagio vacillando'. The three pieces relate to each other in the manner of variations. Their basic material consists of a gospel-like flourish that Müller-Wieland already used in the piano piece 'Engelsgeduld' (Angel's Patience) from his cycle 'Eidola' as well as a chromatically descending line (passus duriusculus) that the composer has found in numerous works of Bach.
