When visiting London the composer became fascinated by The Tube, the ingenious underground system of the British capital. One of the underground lines is the Piccadilly Line, opened in December 1906 and usually coloured dark blue on the maps. It is 71 km long, includes 52 stations, and is a very important connection between Heathrow airport and the town centre. The first sketches for this fanfare were actually written during a trip on the Piccadilly Line.
