Quintet for Winds was composed in 1978 for the Aulos Quintet, on commission from the Naumburg Foundation. The piece especially emphasizes mixtures and doublings. Duration c. 23 minutes.

Trios from the master's heyday, bursting with playfulness and melodiousness. In this instrumentation, the works represent indispensable repertoire material.

Edition with C and A clarinet parts. Pleyel, the most played 'classicist' of his time, was, in Mozart's words, 'capable of remplacing (replacing) us (the works) of Haydn'.

The duets reveal Gebauer's familiarity with the development of wind instruments. In these 'equal' melodic pieces he skillfully unites the German taste with the French taste influenced by Gossec.

The pieces are suitable as didactically well thought-out playing literature, also thanks to moderate keys, both technically and musically excellent for oboe lessons. After the first printing of Garnie...
