Partituras de música polca para orquesta de viento aquí!
La polka es un baile y un estilo musical con una tradición de 200 años en Europa Central y, sobre todo, Oriental.
Aunque este baile folclórico también se ha extendido en diferentes variantes a Suiza y Escandinavia, la cuna y todavía actual centro de la polka es la región de Bohemia, es decir, la actual República Checa, y también se encuentra en Eslovaquia, Polonia („Polka“ significa „Polin“), Eslovenia y los territorios del antiguo Imperio Austrohúngaro – así también en Alemania, sobre todo en el sur de Alemania y aquí especialmente en los jardines de cerveza con música en vivo.
Como la música y el baile polka en 2/4 tiempo es un género bastante sencillo, se favorece en festivales folclóricos y familiares, como música callejera y también como música de pub. La polca suele ser interpretada por una banda más pequeña compuesta por instrumentos de metal, bajo y batería, a menudo complementada por un acordeón, o en una formación aún más mínima. Las bandas del género folk-rock también son muy aficionadas a la polca.
Sin embargo, las orquestas de viento medianas y de concierto también han descubierto la polca; no es de extrañar, porque el ritmo rápido (según la variante, de 80 km/h para la Polka Franze a 160 km/h para la Fast Polka) y la contagiosa alegría de la música garantizan un ambiente animado en cada concierto – o en las grandes carpas de las fiestas bávaras de la cerveza.
