Niels Viggo Bentzon descended from a line of great Danish composers; he was the son of Johan Ernst Hartmann and the great-grandson of J. P. E. Hartmann. In Bentzon 's long career his compositions extend to 664 opus numbers varying from symphonies, operas, concertos, ballets and many other styles.
