Ganz was a major force in modern music of the early 20th century in the United States. He was the first to perform Ravel's piano music in America, brought the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra to the top tier under his baton, and taught at Juilliard before it was Juilliard (The Institute of Musical Art).
