It is a great method to learn harmonies in composition. Julien Falk (1902-1987) was a French composer and composition professor at the Paris Conservatoire. Amongst hisstudents is one of the most famous French songwriters: Serge Gainsbourg. He wrote three methods, three symphonies and some chamber music works.
